Hi everyone...I'm completing two custom guitars this week; both of them are my Resonator Electric model, which can be seen on my website by clicking HERE!
This resonator guitar is the perfect fusion electric, resophonic and acoustic tone and vibe.
Great for people who want to use their electric and acoustic chops and technique to get that reso-twang vibe. One is a cool Lake Placid metalic blue, and the other is an ivory white body...very sexy stuff!
The pickguard for this model is usualy white pearloid, but sometimes folks want tortoise, black, white, and other choices. I make them one at a time by hand, rather than the stamp out method or CNC computer routing that the factories use. It's fun, and a more personal touch to do this with my hands.
The photos show the process, tracing the shape on the blank, routing it out on the shaper table
by taping it to a template I made out of 3/4" plywood, then beveling the edges on a sander.
(The beveling can be seen on the tortoise pg photos.) After that, a nice wet sanding, buffing, and done!

wow, you have the greatest projects. your posts are always interesting!
