This Martin came in from Texas...it fell and the headstock broke, taking along with it a nice portion of the neck right down to the truss rod. Being that this was a new guitar, I felt the need for full cosmetic repair was in order, so I employed some of the marker and grain painting techniques I picked up at Taylor and Martin. I employed the same epoxy method I've discussed in previous articles to join the broken pieces, but as you can see in the photo, there was a decent amount of missing wood all around the break. I stained it the base color, then painted in some grain lines to stagger the solid color and blend in the repair. I then scuffed the entire neck lightly so that I could respray the full neck to really blend the repair seamlessly. (The color in the photos varies due to the different light sources in the shop's various areas...the neck is the same color!) It came off great, and the customer was thrilled!
